A New Era in Power and Dimming Control
More than just a dimmer, the GEN VI (pronouced GEN6) heralds a new era in power and dimming control. Developed from extensive feedback and our global experience, the GEN VI provides an elegant and flexible solution to today’s complex lighting and power requirements.
EnquireConfigure any of the GEN VI outputs in any combination, to be an 8-bit or 16-bit dimmer or a direct power relay channel. This enables the GEN VI to seamlessly dim conventional lamps, or power moving lights, LED fixtures, video screens or audio power amplifiers – in fact any situation where controlled power distribution is needed. TruPower – another LSC first!
Equipped with a 3.2" colour LCD touchscreen with intuitive navigation – you can adjust each channel individually, set the DMX start address, set dimmer curves, 8-bit or 16-bit dimmer operation, control the outputs locally, view external fault conditions that may be present and access the extensive on-board Help screens.
Set the GEN VI to switch the selected relay channels to “on” when a DMX signal is received and then “off” after a preselected time delay of no DMX signal being present. Ideal for the last-person-out scenario – automatic power shutdown when the system has stopped operating.
Pulse Transformer Fired Dimming (PTFD) technology was adopted by LSC nearly 40 years ago, as a superior means of providing smoother and reliable dimming characteristics for a greater variety of loads. It is the best method of providing a flicker-free dimming curve for inductive and resistive loads without the requirement of dummy loads or complicated control circuitry.
Temperature controlled whisper-quiet fans are software controlled to only start running once a certain internal temperature has been reached and then increase proportionally in speed as the temperature increases. Clever design of airflow within the dimmer minimises audible noise when the fans are running at speed. Fans can be set to a constant speed where a consistent noise level is desired.
One of the most catastrophic faults that can occur on any power system is a “dropped” neutral. If a neutral is not present at power-up or drops out during a show, the GEN VI will shut down the outputs within 50ms, providing full protection to your connected equipment. Each output is protected by neutral disconnect MCBs with inbuilt 30mA RCD (RCBOs) to meet the highest level of safety and electrical compliance.
In addition to the front panel set-up for stand-alone mode that can replay stored scenes and chases, the GEN VI can be remotely controlled via DMX512 signals and configured and monitored by Remote Device Management (RDM) and LSC’s HOUSTON X software.
There is a choice of circuit output capacity, number of circuits per unit, output connector styles and 3-phase or single-phase operation. The unit can be 19" rack-mounted for portable use or wall-mounted for permanent installations – versatility plus for any situation!
